Learn Korean alphabet- Consonant and vowel of Korean alphabet Hangeul

Korean alphabet, Hangeul, is the phonetic script, and composed of consonants and vowels. Korean alphabet is formed 19 consonants (including 5 composite consonant), 21 vowels (including 11 composite vowel), total of 40 letters.





Consonant 

  • ㄱ (Giyeok)- G (Game)
  • ㄴ (Nieun)- N (Number)
  • ㄷ (Digeut)- D (Drive)
  • ㄹ (Rieul)- R / l (Like) : There’s no same pronunciation in English.
  • ㅁ (Mieum)- M (Minute)
  • ㅂ (Bieup)- B (Best)
  • ㅅ (Siot)- S (Skin)
  • ㅇ (Ieung)- ng (you)
  • ㅈ (Jieut)- J (June)
  • ㅊ (Chieut)- Ch (Chapter)
  • ㅋ (Kieuk)- K (Key)
  • ㅌ (Tieut)- T (Table) : There’s no same pronunciation in English.
  • ㅍ (Pieup)- P (Press)
  • ㅎ (Hieut)- H (High)



Vowels 

  • ㅏ – A (Alphabet)
  • ㅑ – Ya (Yacht)
  • ㅓ – Eo (Under)
  • ㅕ - Yeo (Yup)
  • ㅗ – O (Old)
  • ㅛ – Yo (York)
  • ㅜ – U (Lulu)
